SoCal Rentals 2026: Search, Plan & Quote
Client Overview
SoCal Rentals has been Southern California's one-stop shop for professional production equipment since 2008, supplying audio, video, LED walls, fiber, power and computing gear for broadcast, live events, film and corporate productions across Los Angeles and Las Vegas. After our first website rebuild, SoCal came back with a bigger goal: turn the site from a catalog into a planning tool that producers use from the first gear list to the final quote. The new site launched in October 2026 at socalps.com.
Project Brief
Production crews rarely rent one item. They build a package of cameras, wireless, comms and power, often with several people weighing in. The brief was to make the new SoCal Rentals site faster and fully responsive, help people find exactly the right gear in seconds, and give teams a shared way to build a rental list and turn it into a quote request.

Faster & More Responsive
We rebuilt the front end with performance as the priority: lighter pages, faster loads and a layout that adapts cleanly from a phone on set to a desktop in the production office. The navigation is organized around how crews shop, by Audio, Video, LED, Computers and brand, with Quote and Plan always one tap away.
Dynamic Search
A new search is built into the header of every page and covers SoCal's entire inventory. Type a brand, a model or a type of gear and you get ranked results with product images, highlighted matches and a direct path to each item. A search for "Shure" returns the full lineup, from lavaliers to Axient Digital wireless, in one view.
The Rental List
Every product page now has an "Add to Rental List" button. Visitors build their package as they browse, adjust quantities inline, and see the running count in the header's Plan button. The list is saved in the browser, so nothing is lost between visits and no account is required to start planning.
Plan Together: Share & Sync
Gear lists are a team effort, so we made them shareable. One click on "Share" creates a short link to the list. Anyone who opens it is working on the same list, and each addition, removal or quantity change syncs item by item, so two people can edit at the same time without overwriting each other. A manual "Sync" button catches up on any changes made while someone was offline, and an incoming shared list never replaces the one a visitor was already building.
From List to Quote
When the package is ready, "Request Rental Quote" brings the whole list into a single form along with the project's contact details, rental dates and special requests. SoCal's team receives a complete, itemized request instead of a vague email, which means faster, more accurate quotes and fewer back-and-forth calls.
Results
Now live at socalps.com, the new SoCal Rentals site treats project planning as part of the product. Producers search, build and share a gear package from any device and send it to SoCal in one step, and SoCal's team receives complete, itemized quote requests instead of chasing details by phone and email.
